About my presentations

I offer age-appropriate presentations for grades K-12, in addition to a variety of presentations for college-age students and adults.

I enjoy visiting schools and talking to students about writing, illustrating, and editing. I also love to lead writing workshops.

Writing workshops focus on spending more time having participants (whether students or adults) create their own work using writing exercises I've developed while teaching writing for the Maryland State Arts Council's Artists-in-Education Program for over 10 years.

Programs Vonnie presents include:

1- Writing for Anthologies - from an editor's & writer's point of view.

2- Writing Short Stories - from idea to publication.

3- The Enchanted Dagger - Novel - from Idea to Published Book.  Buy

4- The Greener Forest- from Stories & Poems to Published Book Buy

5- Owl Light - from Stories & Poems to Published Book Buy

6- Writing a Series - The Chronicles of Lifthrasir

7- Be Ready when Opportunity Knocks

 8- World-building for Writers

 9- The Not-so-Glamorous Life of a Writer & Illustrator

10- How to Become a Published Writer

11- So You Want to Write a Children's Book?

12- Putting it Together: How to put a collection of your poems or stories together.

13- Where Do You Get Your Ideas From?

 14- Building an Author's Platform.

A note about workshops:

Workshops are an excellent way to try new writing exercises, build your communication skills, interact with your peers, and polish your craft.

Vonnie leads writing workshops for both children and adults.

She doesn't believe in writers' block or excessively negative critiquing. Instead, Vonnie's critique process emphasizes positive reinforcement and additional writing exercises that help to strengthen those areas where a writer needs improvement.

Writing Workshops should be fun!
